Tree planting in Hesketh Park
Southport Scarlets WI, supported by Green Sefton, planted a tulip tree in Hesketh Park Southport in recognition of the 110th anniversary of the WI in 2025. A representative of the Hesketh Park Heritage Group and WI members attended the unveiling of its plaque and hope the tree will be included in the park heritage trail.Hesketh Park in Southport is one of the nation’s earliest municipal parks, opened in 1868 and designed by Edward Kemp on land donated by the Rev. Charles Hesketh of Meols Hall. The tulip tree has been placed in a prominent position by the children’s playground and the cafe.
