Clement Clarke Moore (1822)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the committee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thee change was being counted from the weekly cake kitty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stocking were all hung from the monthly craft club.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And on the allotment, was planted a shrub. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The women were all nestled as Jerusalem sang out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emma announced the agenda with no worry or doubt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was Thursday already and the AGM planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We settled our brains as the year was so grand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the warm meeting hall there arose such a clatter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The women so friendly and that\u2019s what should matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking in through the window the year was a flash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We listened to Karen about who spent the cash. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The members of new ladies continues to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As old entertain new by performing a show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When, what to our wondering eyes should appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Flora and Fauna, Who love Martinmere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a little old knotter so lively and slick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry taught us a reef knot ever so quick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

More rapid than eagles Magic Pete came.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

January was magical giving Emma much fame. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now Nancy, now Deb, now Jo and Sue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Pauline on Elisabeth contact these few. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the top of the roomwe bagged for Mad Dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was busy for us but well worth the slog.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As April approached us we took part in Tai Chi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daphne who taught us had a soft spot for Nancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So up to the house top India came into view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Sari\u2019s, metal bangles and food tasting too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then in a twinkling came a flash of bright green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hearts for our climate keep Great Britain clean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I drew in my head and was turning around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in time I had gone and a Tudor wife found. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was dress\u2019d all in rattan from  her head to her foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She cook\u2019d on a fire tarnis\u2019d with ashes and soot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A bundle of thread was flying in the pack,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sewing over in Leyland and they even came back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our eyes \u2013 how they twinkl\u2019d when the life mag was posted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cup of coffee, a biscuit on our settee we\u2019re bolted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their droll little mouth wanted Ed wina Curry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An annual selfie but she’d gone in a hurry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stump of a log they sweat and bare teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They dig and plant as seeds germinate beneath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have a broad face as the dish fills with crops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weather was kind and their fruit never stops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was chubby and plump a right jolly old Ted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We tried crown green bowling but got easily led.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No bowling ball landed within the flower bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We spoke not a word and went straight to our work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selling cakes large and small through positive teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And laying a finger on the powerpoint created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The year through happy photos was clearly stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She sprung to her apron and to the team gave a smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being a member of the Scarlets is a positive lifestyle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, Emma exclaimed as she crotch\u2019d out of sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twas\u00a0the night after Christmas<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All through the house<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing was stirring<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not even a mouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They couldn\u2019t you see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They were stuck where they sat<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019d spent so much time eating<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They were feeling so fat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019d tucked into turkey and stuffing and sprouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019d had the pudding and trifle and mince pies with no doubts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019d eaten the cheddar and gouda and brie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019d feasted and snacked, no food left to see.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They had searched and emptied<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stockings and socks<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They had polished off the chocolate from every selection box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To say nothing of the gin and port and the wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would have been rude not to, it\u2019s civilised when you dine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So the night after Christmas as you\u2019re sat in the quiet<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s perhaps the time to consider a diet<\/p>\n\n\n\n
